10 Best Nintendo Switch Exclusives Of 2018
6. Nintendo Labo
While there’s not enough here to see Labo rise above some of the best games the Switch put out this year, it’s certainly the most inventive. It’s arguably the most unique and innovative gaming add-on since the guitar peripherals.
Nintendo Labo utilises cardboard cutouts and a variety of other bits and pieces to give the player a range of controllers. It’s slightly reminiscent of Wii Play back in 2007; great at showcasing the potential but slightly lacking in the gameplay department.
You get the feeling that for Labo to take off, it needs its own version of Wii Sports. Not that it needs to be sporty necessarily; it just needs a game to come along and match fantastic gameplay with the innovative design Labo has introduced.
In this world of sequel after sequel where new IPs are quite rare in themselves, Nintendo deserves real praise for putting out something like Labo. So far, only Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Deemo support the peripherals. If a few more games pitch in (or a sequel brings more addictive gameplay), Labo could become a much more recognisable part of the Switch.
