10 Best Nintendo Switch Exclusives Of 2018
7. Mario Tennis Aces
It’s amazing how many games Nintendo have spun from the Mario franchise. As well as the main platform games, there’re party games like, well, Party, and Mario Kart. Luigi and Yoshi are both getting solo games on the Switch this year too, showing that it’s not just Mario who can deliver the goods.
Of all the stuff in their locker, the Tennis games probably fall somewhere in the middle. Aces, suitably enough, falls somewhere in the middle of the Tennis catalogue too.
Its biggest problem is the story mode. It’s really nothing more than a glorified tutorial. Given the Switch’s popularity, it may be introducing many players to Mario Tennis for the first time. It’s good that there’s a mode for them to get to grips with it, but for returning players it’s disappointing not to have a meatier single player mode.
It has the same arcade fun of the other Tennis games, with the less popular gimmicks of the Wii U version axed for a smoother experience. As you’d expect from a modern day Mario game, it looks amazing too. Another win for the little Italian plumber in 2018.
