2. Pokémon Let’s Go, Pikachu!/Let’s Go, Eevee!
Critics will point to the fact that it’s just a retelling of Pokémon Yellow, but honestly Pokémon Let's Go was more like seeing your favourite book adapted into a movie. It was a completely different experience built around a similar core. It’s not like Pokemon games are famed for their narratives to begin with, and the addition of a ton of features makes up for the lack of wild encounter battles.
Well, even if it doesn’t make up for that entirely, it certainly doesn’t feel like Let’s Go has had features cut from it in a rush. The game is also gorgeous, with an art style perfect for the game at hand.
Master trainer battles are a great new feature, and the seamless integration of Red, Blue and Green into the mix is perfect too. The addition of Meltan and Melmetal is a little weird and unnecessary, but that hardly detracts from the game as a whole.
Let’s Go has Pokémon fans hugely excited for the full Pokémon RPG heading to the Switch this year. Judging by the sales figures, it’ll have Game Freak just as excited too.
