10 Best Point And Click Video Game Adventures Ever

10. Indiana Jones And The Fate Of Atlantis

The Adventure:

At around the same time LucasArts' developing team were busy working on The Dig, a select few hunkered down and created this sublime adventurer. Released in 1992, The Fate Of Atlantis whipped up a frenzy with critics and gamers alike, all of which were staggered by the engaging story (clue is in the title) and jazzed at being able to take control of one of cinema's most iconic characters in something other than a platformer. Players of Maniac Mansion and a certain pirating series were already familiar with the game's SCUMM system, but what hadn't been seen before was the nifty paths option, where players could opt to play with wits, fists or in a team. The latter option remains the best choice, as it allows feisty sidekick Sophia Hapgood to step into the fray and give Indy a run for his money. Not only is this the best Indiana Jones incarnation to grace the pixelated stage, the game was trailblazing enough to prompt a decent homage/ rip off in Renegade Software's Flight Of The Amazon Queen.

Puzzling Par Excellence:

Indy travels to Monte Carlo to persuade an uppity gent to part with an important stone relic. No need for a whip or pistol to pull off this coup, as our hero gets Sophia to stage a seance, enabling him to gather up the necessary ghost outfit to scare said man into parting with his spoils. Finit.
