10 Best Reverse-Horror Video Games You've Probably Never Heard Of

3. Ahmmit's Gate

Last Year The Nightmare
A Few Screws Loose Studio

If you are a fan of games like Carrion, then this is the title for you. It operates similarly, giving you control over an evil creature and using them to brutalise some pesky humans.

This 2D side scroller places you as a blind monster named Ahmmit, who survives and thrives on human fear. Ahmmit rips themselves into this dimension in an effort to recover her eggs, which have been taken from her and placed inside a museum. You then attain tasty fear by causing loud noises and assassinating the guards, and attempt to reclaim your family.

Sadly, the difficulty comes from the fact that you are not longed for this world, meaning the longer you spend in it, the weaker you become. By going back to the titular gate, you can regain strength and use it to follow through with your mission.

The title is mostly a short demonstration of a full-fledged release created in a short 12 weeks by A Few Screws Loose Studio. This makes it all the more impressive, as the unique premise, luscious art design and satisfying mechanics feel far more fleshed out than you'd expect from such a short development time.
