10 Best Reverse-Horror Video Games You've Probably Never Heard Of
4. Lucius
What's the evilest being you could play as? Probably The Devil. So, by comparison, playing as his malevolent six-year-old offspring must at least be the second most evil character you can take control over, and this game lets you do just that.
In Lucius, you take control of the impeccably dressed titular child, who was unwittingly chosen to harbour the soul of a demonic entity, making him the spiritual progeny of Lucifer. The game consists of you taking advantage of your demonic powers to sacrifice the residents of Dante manor.
The game is filled with a gorgeously gothic style that captures the scenario's pure evil and gives the title an almost Edgar Allan Poe vibe. This is all complemented by the gameplay, which tests your situational awareness as you think of exciting kills and act cautiously to leave no evidence of foul play.
It can get a little tricky thanks to the lack of hints and direction, but this also ends up being part of the charm as you discover your skills and the mechanics organically.
Technically, Lucius did find quite a bit of success, circulating amongst the let's play community upon its release and gaining two sequels. Even so, it doesn't get the amount of attention that playing as the antichrist deserves.
