Video game leading roles are very tough to pull off, especially in a role-playing game where players usually just want to picture themselves in the driving seat. That said, there are plenty of protagonists that pass with flying colours, and Aloy from the Horizon games is one of them.

Aloy is the main focus of Zero Dawn and Forbidden West, with the narrative revolving around her quest to uncover the truth about the world and herself. This manifests through her sheer determination and unwavering strength in the face of massive challenges. Hell, could you do what this machine hunter does? No? Didn't think so.

Despite her immense bravery and physical skill, there is still plenty of vulnerability to this character. Her hardships as an outcast put her through a lot, but her journey throughout the games is nothing short of inspiring.

Some people might complain that she talks too much - which is understandable - but if you throw that nitpick aside, you'll see that she's a fundamentally brilliant character.
