It's a little rough around the edges, but Treyarch's tie-in to Sam Raimi's first movie took the formula which worked so well in Neversoft's PS1 outing and pushed it to the max. Likewise, though it hadn't gone open world yet, the developers did make a point of creating the largest levels ever seen in a Spidey game at the time, allowing players to swing around expansive districts in New York before jumping into linear levels.

Expanding on the plot of the original film, the tie-in included more villains than purely the Green Goblin, with Shocker and the Vulture getting their own memorable missions. The gameplay is practically unchanged from the PS1 titles, but an increased emphasis on stealth and aerial combat keeps things interesting when the webbed boxing gloves get a bit old.

It wasn't quite as revolutionary as Treyarch's next game, but even Tobey Maguire's phoned-in line readings couldn't ruin how cool it was to be able to play as his version of Spidey.
