Legend has it any time you mention Bloodlines, someone in the world installs it back onto their computer. The question, of course, is why would you bother removing it?

A rabid fanbase has continued to update and patch this 2004 entry to this day, refining it into an absolute marvel of a game.

Set in Los Angeles and its surrounding areas, the game follows the adventures of a new vampire as they're caught up between warring factions: the posh Camarilla, the rebellious Anarchs, the elusive Kuei-Jin and the destructive Sabbat, as they compete for the mysterious Ankraran Sarcophagus, something that could have untold power and bring about the vampiric apocalypse, Gehenna.

Players are able to choose between a variety of vampire clans, each with its own benefits. Gangrel are animalistic fighters, while Toreadors are seductive and persuasive, and Termeres have access to powerful blood magic. The best by far is the Malkavian clan, a vampire suffering for insanity that will alternate between arguing with a stop sign and breaking the fourth wall.

The distinct style of vampires allows the player to complete missions in dozens of ways. The voice acting is superb, and the music is pitch perfect for establishing the tone.

It's true that the game has its struggles, particularly when it comes to the combat side of the game. But honestly, the game is so good it's easy to overlook it. No game has been better at allowing a player to truly play a creature of the night.
