10 Best Vampire Video Games EVER

2. Legacy Of Kain: Soul Reaver

Vampyr game

Similar to Castlevania, the Blood Omen series is really, really good. While controlling Kain in the earlier games of the series is an excellent feeling, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver is most arguably the most complete game in the series.

The game follows the vengeful and monstrous Raziel, a vampire lieutenant of the malevolent Kain who is resurrected by an Elder God to avenge his death at the hands of his sire.

The game looks gorgeous for a first-generation Playstation exclusive, with an appropriately oppressive atmosphere. Raziel's abilities tend to revolve around his ability to shift between a material and ethereal plane. This allows the player to solve a litany of puzzles by accessing areas through different planes.

The combat is sharp, controls responsive, and the game's art direction is gorgeous. The ending however, ends on an unsatisfying cliffhanger. Of course in hindsight, that just means you get to play the second game right after.

A game that was mature, complex, and refused to hold the player's hands, Legacy of Kain stands as a pillar of what the Playstation could do late into its life cycle, and remains a fond memory in the minds of gamers.
