Okay, hands up: Who hasn't tried the new Hitman games? All of you? Please remedy that immediately.

Yes, we were all put off when IO Interactive were forced to release the 2016 reboot episodically, but no it did not hinder that game one bit, instead letting players get lost in one sprawling map every few weeks, as IO plugged in dynamic targets for the fanbase to take down however they saw fit.

For Hitman 2, they've gone above and beyond. In terms of gameplay we only needed quality of life improvements, such as weightier shooting and more stealth mechanics (plus being able to hide in crowds and tall grass) but outside of that, the entirety of Hitman 1's levels can be retrofitted with these new environmental tweaks and targets too.

Combined, it makes Hitman 2 a glorious "platform" of stealth gameplay; a stunning, labyrinthine achievement of game design and pound for pound content that reacts in every way you can think to poke and prod.

Second time around, IO have fully embraced the ridiculousness of Hitman's sardonic black sense of humour too, leading to strangling someone as a sports mascot, or uncovering a secret exfiltration method involving surfing on a dolphin.

Hitman 2 - plus Hitman 1's levels if you already owned the original or paid to include them - is hands-down, unequivocally, the best Hitman of all time, and the best stealth game of the generation.

No ifs, no buts. Go play it.
