10 Best Video Games Of 2018 You Didn't Play

The developers of the Yakuza games got their hands on the Fist of the North Star IP.

That might be enough for some of you to run out the door right now, but if you're less convinced, know that the Yakuza games have had enjoyably brutal combat since day one, whereas FotNS has long been a Dynasty Warriors clone, as far as its recent 3D instalments went.

Thankfully, Lost Paradise plays like Yakuza's already OTT Heat moves on steroids, placing you in more memorable fights than just flailing at entire fields of goons. As a series staple you'll punch people so precisely they'll explode, with environmental attacks, group slams and a rage mode spicing things up nicely.

Somewhat annoyingly, the devs did include a Yakuza-like story filled with text-heavy exchanges and wannabe weighty character swerves getting in the way, but combat does thankfully outweigh the narrative stuff overall.

Lost Paradise lets you flatten a small island's worth of goons with special moves that involve jamming your thumb into a dude's temple, only to fling him at three companions, and in short, it's video games as hell, but in the best way.
