10 Best Video Games Of January 2022 (According To Critics)
5. Pokémon Legends: Arceus (Switch)
When Pokémon Legends: Arceus was revealed in early 2021, many of us weren't convinced that this game would be the one that delivers on the open world, 3D experience that we'd been dreaming of for years. The visuals looked bland , the world looked lifeless and the character models looked low quality.
The non-believers were proven wrong when Pokémon Legends: Arceus released in January 2022 and received glowing praise from critics and fans alike. Despite the poor visuals, the game delivers on the fun open world premise with a large roster of new and returning monsters roaming the overworld for trainers to catch and battle.
Taking us back to the ancient Hisui region, we are tasked with completing the first ever Pokedex whilst unravelling the mystery of the mythical God Pokemon, Arceus along the way. Embarking on survey missions is a ton of fun with an all new capture and battle system that feels like a breath of fresh air for the franchise that can hopefully be expanded on in better looking future titles.
Critics praised the new direction of the game but conceded that the game could definitely use an improvement in the visual department. This leaves the game sitting at an 85 critic score on Metacritic.
