10 Best Wii U Games So Far

5. Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker

One of the surprising things about Super Mario 3D World was the inclusion of levels starring Captain Toad. His puzzling antics served as a nice little distraction from Mario's platforming gameplay and proved to be surprisingly popular. So popular, in fact that Nintendo decided to go and make a fully-fledged game starring Captain Toad and his beloved Toadette. Just like in his levels in 3D World, players carefully guide Captain Toad through small environments, rotating the camera to discover paths that lead directly to the shiny, shiny green stars that have to be collected for some reason. It's an endearingly simple concept, but thanks to the expertly-designed difficulty curve and excellent boss fights it somehow never feels like it's been stretched too thin.

When I'm not playing games, I'm probably either writing about them somewhere or singing stupid songs inspired by them. Or eating pizza.
