10 Best Zombie Video Games Of The Decade (So Far)

1. The Last Of Us

The Last Of Us
Naughty Dog

While not officially zombies, the cordyceps in The Last of Us occupy the same role. Ravishing the earth and transmitting their infection through bites, the game's enemies have all the hallmarks of the classic monsters, even if their name wants you to think otherwise.

Covering the same post-apocalyptic beats found in much undead fiction, Naughty Dog's masterpiece feels fresh because of the quality of the characters at the heart of the story. Here the narrative isn't just an excuse for the zombie killing, but the zombie killing is actually an excuse for the narrative.

Post-apocalyptic tales are the bread and butter of video games, but few have come close to matching the oppressive desolation found in The Last of Us. Powerful, innovative and ultimately fun to play, TLoU has set the bar for zombie games for the whole decade.
