10 Best Zombie Video Games Of The Decade (So Far)

2. The Walking Dead Season 1

Although each season of The Walking Dead could have made it onto this list, the first just edges out the rest to be the best, and is worth mentioning because of how much of a defining moment it was for its developer Telltale Games.

Although fans - including me - have gushed over the heartbreaking ending to the game ad nauseum, The Walking Dead isn't just a great zombie experience because of one moment or episode.

The entire tale from beginning to end offers one of the most engrossing depictions of a post-apocalyptic hellscape that video games have ever seen, chronicling the fall of mankind right from the very first zombie bite to the moment where humanity has become an endangered species.

Acting as a greatest hits collection of zombie fiction, The Walking Dead season 1 touches upon the morals of surviving in this new world, dealing with crazed human cannibals and depicting group infighting spiralling out of control among other hallmarks of the genre.

It's a great ride all the way through, and its iconic final moments only cement it as an essential purchase for zombie fans.
