4. Tails Adventure (1995) (Sega Game Gear)

Tails Adventure, which sounds as though it's been translated directly from Japanese and slapped on the box, features Sonic the Hedgehog's little buddy in a major role, who - for all intents and purposes - had been considered a serious pain in the ass up until that point. Sega's plan, then, might've been to steer haters away from Tails' negative attributes by placing him front and centre. The result was, rather bizarrely, a strange platforming/role-playing hybrid. Set before Tails met Sonic (and presumably when Sonic was far happier),
Tails Adventure had the two-tailed fox child running about in massive levels at the slowest speed ever assigned to a video game character, bashing birds and throwing bombs at things. It's a generally difficult game and not particularly fun to play - something made worse by the fact that you have to
constantly backtrack to get anywhere. Overall, it's an interesting failed experiment , and one which confirms what we already knew to be true: Tails is sort of a douche.
