10. Virtual Reality Headsets Will Demo Terribly (And Be Overpriced At Retail)
Getting a world of at-home viewers to care about something only the people in attendance can actively wear is no small task - one that the more you think about it, seems genuinely impossible. After all, have you seen the split-feed footage that the likes of the Project Morpheus or Oculus Rift spit out? It's confusing to say the least, with each eyeball requiring a separate screen to bring the three-dimensional effect to life. It's likely that for Sony's conference they'll have Morpheus headsets under the seats of all those in the conference hall, but of course that doesn't make for the best experience at home - especially when this year's show is being beamed around the world in cinemas. Not only that, but early reports on the cost of development have numbered into sky-high realms of affordability, with a price-point of around £200-£300 for the retail version of Sony's Project Morpheus if rumours are to be believed. That sharp intake of breath you most likely just did is completely apt - no one wants to pay the same amount for an add-on as they did for their console, let alone something as untested and potentially flash-in-the-pan as VR.
