2. Sephiroth is coming to Super Smash Bros Ultimate
While some of their games like Animal Crossing: New Horizons were nominated for multiple awards, Nintendo came into the Game Awards less than a month after their controversial decision to send a cease and desist order to one of the longest running esports tournaments, The Big House. This resulted in #FreeMelee trending as a result, and was even being posted in the live chat throughout the Game Awards.
But controversy aside, many fans of Nintendo were eager to see if there was going to be any new games announced, or a sneak peek at the upcoming Breath Of The Wild 2.
Instead, fans were introduced to the latest combatant to join the fight alongside the likes of Mario and Link the Super Smash Bros Ultimate. And it was none other than the lead antagonist of Final Fantasy 7, Sephiroth.
It is always a spectacle to see the new characters of Smash being announced in their own cinematic trailers, and Sephiroths was no exception. As his iconic theme music started playing, the one winged angel attacked the other fighters of Smash in between gameplay footage. Sephiroth descends to battle later this month.
