5. Cutting Off Your Own Finger - Heavy Rain

If you’ve played Heavy Rain I’m betting you saw this one coming. There are a lot of nasty things Ethan has to go through in his journey to try and save his son Shaun, not the least of which are crawling over broken glass and navigating a barbed wire maze.

But there’s nothing that quite compares to the Lizard trial where Ethan has to cut off one of his fingers to gain crucial information about the location of his son.

Chances are you won’t be able to walk away from this one, especially if you refused to kill a character earlier resulting in the failure of a previous trial. Or maybe you just messed something up along the way, being that this game has plenty of branching paths. Much like Trevor’s fun torture pack you’ll have your pick of finger chopping devices. The best method is to use the axe, knife, or pliers and then disinfect and cauterise the wound.

That said, you’re also free to make life harder for yourself by opting for the sickening saw or scissor route which takes a lot longer and is a lot nastier.

The voice actor does an excellent job of making this quicktime-event heavy scene as awful as you’d expect. It is, with no exaggeration, absolutely horrible.
