Dark Souls II misses out on this list not just due to the 'one game per series' rule, but also because Xbox One gamers have already received a much-improved version of it (kind of leaving people who bought the game previously feeling like what they played was essentially just a rough draft). Even in its more refined form, Dark Souls II just doesn't have the ingenious magic of the original game, which was damn near perfect, and still regarded as the Magnum Opus of the Souls series (including Bloodborne). If you've never visited its devilishly well-designed labyrinthine world, now's your chance. Dark Souls is also one of the most replayable games of all time. Whether you're a veteran who wants to challenge the legendary Artorias on New Game +7, or are visiting Lordran for the first time, it's your duty as a responsible gamer to have this sublime work in your library.
