Please, no more pointless remasters.

You might not think it, but it's a great time to be a gamer. Yes, the industry is laden with awful problems, the business side of gaming is a nightmare, and the treatment of talented workers is enough to make you sick. But, the actual games themselves are of a pretty fantastic quality. Sure, there are plenty of awful broken releases, but you don't need to look far to find incredible titles to sink your time into.

That said, it's obvious that the gaming industry has a few current trends that are odd, to say the least.

The industry is made up of people trying to turn their games into success stories, so trends and tropes are often adopted to get some widespread appeal. However, devs and companies don't always understand the nuances of what the consumer wants, with many bizarre trends popping up here and there proving that they're barking up the wrong tree.

These ten entries are some fine examples of the industry mistakenly thinking it knows what gamers want. Some are light-heartedly confusing in their weirdness and others are really ticking players off.

10. Customisable Genitals

Customising a character down to every minute detail is a joy many gamers swear by. For some, getting into a new title and seeing a robust, extensive character creation suite is like a warm Christmas morning. But, lately, it seems the level of customisable features is starting to get a little, let's say, bare.

Some notable games, the best examples being Cyberpunk 2077 and Baldur's Gate 3, have made waves for allowing players to customise their genitals. The games let you strip those pants off, get a good look at what you've got going on, and then choose from a selection of varying sizes, designs, and aesthetic options.

There are, naturally, boundless benefits to advanced RPG character customisation, especially in matters of inclusion, identity, and diversity. But looking beneath your pants in the game is usually not even an option, so why is the industry so determined to let you go into detail on what's down there? Are there really passionate cries for penis sliders? Well, if it's an option the game gives, you might as well take a look, right?
