The most recent instalment of the Super Smash Bros franchise came with a heaping host of new features. Spirits were, of course, one of these fresh additions, and they provided a lovely collectable which gave players the desire to catch them all. You could unlock them by playing through Adventure Mode, completing challenges or simply buying them. But, Nintendo threw in an excellent treat for avid Pokémon players.

When the game was first released, you would be gifted with the Partner Pikachu and/or Partner Eevee spirits right away, provided you had the appropriate Pokémon Let's Go save files. Fans of these adorable pocket monsters would get to carry their spirits over into the brawling game simply by virtue of owning either the Pikachu or Eevee centric titles.

This eventually became moot as the characters were added to the spirit board. But, Nintendo reused the same practice of rewarding players with spirits like Sir Arthur (Ghosts n' Goblins Resurrection), Razewing Ratha (Monster Hunter Stories 2) and Sophia (Persona 5 Strikers) if you had the save files of their corresponding games.
