There's so much depth to Breath of the Wild that it's hard to fathom at times. But did you know BOTW has, for want of a better word, links to other titles in the LOZ canon outside of what's included in the core game? Well, you're about to find out a rather interesting one.

If you scan the Wolf Link and Midna amiibo into BOTW, then you'll receive an exciting travelling companion, namely Wolf Link. This animal buddy comes equipped with three hearts.

But, if you've got a copy of the Twilight Princess HD remaster on WiiU, then you'll have a chance to up that health count.

You can do this by scanning the amiibo into the WiiU title and completing the Cave of Shadows bonus level. If you manage to make your way through, you can directly carry the number of hearts you have left (max of 20) over to BOTW.

Now, this isn't an effortless feat, as the Cave of Shadows level is one punishing task. Still, if you want your canine friend to live as long as possible, then it's worth pushing through.
