10 Craziest Moments In Bioshock's History

9. The Dark Descent

The first time that players saw Rapture in the original BioShock, it was in a haunting descent that followed an equally bonkers plane crash to begin the game. As it stands, the opening to BioShock is one of the most awe-inspiring sequences to ever be put into any medium, let alone video games. You are helpless as the bathysphere takes you down deep into an underwater city that is ominously quiet, yet there's still so much life to it that you can't help but bask in all its wonders. The slow and steady journey from the lighthouse to the depths of Rapture is filled with so much detail, so much depth, that you just lose yourself to the whole experience. But it's also pure insanity, as everything just comes at you with such tremendous force, that you immediately believe in everything that you're seeing. Regardless of how outrageous the whole thing sounds, Rapture comes off as credible science, despite being completely insane.
