10 Cringiest Video Game Moments You Wish You Could Forget

1. Ethan and Madison's Awkward Love Scene

David Cage's Heavy Rain is a gripping thriller that effectively blends a hardboiled mystery with elements of psychological horror. Despite its phenomenal branching narrative, this game is likewise known for having some unintentionally hilarious moments.

Whether it's pressing a button to shout "Jason", a chase scene in a supermarket that descends into cartoonish slapstick, or the voice actors' not-quite American accents, these quirks imbue this title with a loveable charm. However, there's one sequence that's too uncomfortably awkward to be considered enjoyable in any way.

The scene in question comes when Madison comforts a distraught Ethan, who's left shaken after completing one of the Origami Killer's twisted tasks. Here, players are given the option to kiss Madison during the conversation, which triggers a tonally off-putting sex scene if players choose to go along with the act.

Not only does this romantic moment come completely out of nowhere, but stiff character animations, like the characters smooshing their open mouths together, make everything feel even more unnatural.

Throw in an overly sentimental soundtrack, a bunch of QTEs, and the characters being mostly clothed throughout, and it's understandable why this sequence has become so notorious.
