10 Cringiest Video Game Moments You Wish You Could Forget
2. Swim This Way
Blending wholesome Disney charm and JRPG quirkiness, the Kingdom Hearts series is bursting with bizarre melodrama capable of making the most seasoned anime fans cringe.
While Goofy's unintentionally hilarious death scene would be a notable candidate for this list, there's one sequence which stands out as being too unbearable for even the most dedicated Kingdom Hearts fan: "Swim This Way" from Kingdom Hearts 2.
Upon arriving in Atlantica, Sora, Goofy, and Donald get swept up in a musical number with Ariel and Sebastian which plays out like a simplistic rhythm game.
Though its upbeat tempo and calypso sound is inspired by the classic Disney movie's iconic tracks, this song is more like a soulless imitation of those more memorable hits.
Despite the performers' joyous expressions and Sebastian's encouraging cheers suggesting that this part of the game is supposed to be fun, the annoyingly repetitive melody, terrible lyrics like "have ourselves some finny fun", and tediously basic gameplay that involves periodically pressing a single button make enduring this track anything but.
Even though this section is only a few minutes long, sitting through this song feels like an eternity. Players are recommended to swim far, far away from this one.
