10 Crowdfunded Video Games That Never Saw The Light Of Day

1. The Black Glove

The Black Glove
Day For Night

Goal: $550,000 - Raised: $216,517

Failing to meet even half the necessary funds, The Black Glove was an exceptional idea, which will remain forever unrealised. In the game, players travel through time, manipulating events in order to influence the artistic mediums and messages of certain creators, transforming the environment of the future in order to solve puzzles, and advance through the story.

The entire thing would have taken place inside a surrealist theatre from the 1920's, and the principle antagonist would have been a spectral arcade cabinet ripped straight from the 80's.

It had everything: a cool premise, a unique sense of personality, and several experienced developers working on the project – including several ex-employees from 2K Games, specifically the team behind the original Bioshock. Endorsed by Ken Levine himself, the project was promising, and appeared to be coming together into something remarkably special.

Unfortunately, there simply wasn’t a large enough audience for the game, meaning the team were force to abandon The Black Glove in favour of other projects.

Currently, there are no plans to revitalise the project, however there’s always a chance the team will find a more reliable source of funding somewhere down the line. Until then, we can only dream about what could have been, our mouths watering at the prospect.
