4. Dead Space 2 - Eye Surgery
The Dead Space series is no stranger to gore, jump-scares and tense atmospheres. Evident by the numerous videos that hit the internet shortly after its release, gamers quickly became aware of Dead Space 2's eye surgery scene. During this scene, the protagonist, Isaac, climbs into a machine in order for a needle to pierce his eye and activate a part of his brain (which will allow him to progress during the next section of the game). The player is forced to control this mechanic needle, having to slowly descend towards Isaac's pupil. Of course, it's not that simple: depending on the speed of the descent and the proximity of the needle, Isaac's eye moves at varying speeds, often making it difficult to align the needle with the pupil. Should the player miss, the needle essentially bursts the eye, resulting in some discomfort for Isaac and a stream of blood before the game resets and the player is forced to make another attempt. Players of all kinds cringed at this disturbing scene and it was not something they would soon forget following the completion of the game.
