10 Dream Star Wars Games And Who Should Develop Them
9. Death Troopers - Visceral Games
Although the term ‘Death Trooper’ is now synonymous with the black clad elite commandos from Rogue One, it’s also the title of a 2009 Star Wars horror novel by Joe Schreiber. Even in 2009, Death Troopers had a fairly tenuous relationship with Star Wars canon, as it depicted two teenage brothers fighting zombie Stormtroopers alongside Han Solo, Chewbacca, and the crew of an Imperial prison barge.
As a book, it was a little all over the place, but its concept really lends itself to the kind of bombastic, atmospheric sci-fi horror seen in the Dead Space series.
Since EA already owns Dead Space developers Visceral, they’d be the perfect team to execute such a bizarre concept – a tense, gory thrill ride in which familiar Star Wars iconography gets twisted and mutated beyond recognition.
Visceral are already working on an as-yet-unnamed Star Wars title, one that’s slated to be the second coming of the cancelled noir-thriller Star Wars: 1313. Although it's being helmed by Amy Hennig of Uncharted fame, it appears to be sorely lacking some bloodthirsty Stormtroopers.
