10 Dream Star Wars Games And Who Should Develop Them
8. Total War: Star Wars - Creative Assembly
This one seems completely unlikely, considering that Creative Assembly is owned by SEGA, rather than EA, but stranger alliances have happened. The team behind the beloved Total War series of real-time strategy games has already proven that they’re willing to leave history in the past, having applied their Total War framework to the Warhammer franchise.
While the series’ formula generally works better with close quarters melee combat, Empire: Total War proved that it could still work in an era of gunpowder and artillery. Imagine a Galactic Conquest-style Total War game, complete with varied planetary factions and environments. Creative Assembly could easily borrow elements from Empire at War, Petroglyph’s excellent Star Wars strategy game, but overhaul the planetary battles to make them more action-packed and pacey.
It’s a concept that would work well in any Star Wars era, cinematic or otherwise, and would lend itself particularly well to pre-A New Hope stories in which Jedi/Sith were more commonplace.
