The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is undoubtedly a great game, however, the fantasy world, while beautiful, felt somewhat pedestrian compared to its predecessor Morrowind. Thankfully, that all changed with the release of the RPG’s final expansion, The Shivering Isles.

The Shivering Isles took players to the realms of Mania and Dementia, ruled by the Daedric Prince of Madness, Sheogorath. The Prince of Madness proves to be an incredible character and the portrayal by voiced actor Wes Johnson has made the character one of the best in the entire series. His personality is perfectly encapsulated in the locations that you visit, as well as the narrative that will take you through his realms.

By the end of the expansion, you will be tasked with defeating Sheogorath, who is revealed to be the Prince of Order, Jyggyalag, and you will take on the mantle of Prince of Madness.

The Shivering Isles is a prime example of using DLC to try something different that would likely not make it in the main game. For a game that also featured one of the most notorious pieces of DLC ever in the infamous Horse Armour, Bethesda redeemed themselves with The Shivering Isles. Well almost.
