10 Essential Video Game DLC Packs
2. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Blood And Wine
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt featured two incredible pieces of DLC following its release in 2015 and both would be deserving of a place on this list. However, as it only seems fair to feature one DLC per game here, it’s Geralt’s summer holiday in Toussaint that gets the nod.
Blood and Wine gave players a unique new location to explore that differed completely from the gritty and dark lands of Velen and Skellige. The land of Toussaint, which had only been featured in the books to this point, was a vibrant and colourful take on Western Europe during the middle ages. The setting was truly something special, even rivalling that of the main game, and there was a ton of content here likely taking most players a staggering 30 hours to complete. That’s impressive for something that calls itself an expansion.
The DLC also saw the return of a fan-favourite character from the books and featured a dark story that contrasted perfectly against the sun-soaked vineyards and colourful buildings of Toussaint. Blood and Wine is a love letter to the series and concluded the adventures of Geralt of Rivia perfectly.
