In Firewatch, you play as Henry - a lookout who's hired to patrol Shoshone National Forest shortly after the Yellowstone fires of 1988. Suffering a mid-life crisis, Henry is more focused on his personal problems than his job. But as he and his dispatcher, Delilah, discover odd readings in the area, Henry finds himself involved in a potential conspiracy.

Although the trailers shows off sprawling scenery, it's hard for the promotions to convey what Firewatch is really about - loneliness. As mundane as it sounds to aimlessly wander around the wilderness, the touching script and phenomenal performances leaves you gripped. Because of the airtight writing, you can find the dialogue scary, funny, and enthralling all at once.

Because Delilah is your only human-contact, you have a permanent bond with her, even though your only means of speaking with her is through a walkie-talkie. Like the Telltale series, you can choose how to respond to her, which drastically affects your relationship.

Not only does this make the dialogue feel more intimate, it gives you incentive to play again to see how each of your responses alter the story.
