If put on the throne, would you become a benevolent ruler, or a tax-hoarding, money-grubbing despotic king or queen who keeps the coffers topped up with gold instead of doling out much-needed cash to your many citizens?

This is the conundrum Fable 3 puts you in. You spend about half the game plotting how best to dethrone the brother who had you branded a traitor to the throne. Along the way, you will discover that the reason your brother Logan began developing increasingly tyrannical tendencies was to raise enough coin to defend the subjects of Albion from a powerful being known as "The Crawler" who hails from the distant desert lands of Aurora.

The events of the game follow the hero-led resistance storming the castle, seizing the throne and then task you with deciding how best to prepare for the impending invasion of Albion by this supernatural force. From this point, you can still adventure around Albion, but you will now be trying to earn and save money in order to fund the necessary defences for your kingdom; you might even gain an understanding for your brother's actions in the process.
