5. The Whole Freaking Game Pt. 2 - Soldier of Fortune 2: Double Helix
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkyNudCkA44 I have to give Raven Software credit; they really upped their game for the second Soldier of Fortune, such that it manages to earn a spot on the list all by itself. By the time Double Helix approached release, the first game had earned an infamous reputation among gamers for its excessive, ludicrous levels of gore, but apparently, Raven Software didn't think we'd seen enough of the inside of the human body, so completely outdid themselves in part two. Gorier and more revolting in every aspect, Double Helix features more points of destructive articulation, meaning even more ways to dismember enemies, and on the whole, a lot more blood. Shooting enemies results in staggeringly impressive impact detail, while clouds of blood spurt all over the screen, particularly if you achieve a headshot. Best of all, damage to the head has been vastly reworked; now if you keep shooting at an enemy's head, you'll see their head start to impact and change shape, and their skull break apart. It's absolutely revolting, but I admire their demented dedication to disintegrating the human body.
