Finally, we come to The Last of Us Part 2, which has already proven to be the most divisive and contentious release of 2020. Specifically, the character of Abbie did something sadistic in the early stages of the campaign and subsequently, the game put you in her perspective for a good portion of the game.

She was played by Laura Bailey, a veteran voice actress who has previously received high praise for her work in the industry. In 2020 though, things were different as she was subjected to vicious attacks over the character she played in The Last of Us 2.

Most of the rage manifested itself through death threats from people who came away with such a raging hatred for Abbie. What they missed however was that Bailey had no impact on the way the story or characters were written. She was merely acting what Neil Druckmann and the writers had given her to perform. Therefore there was absolutely no reason for gamers to go after her.

You can like The Last of Us 2 or you can hate it, but seriously, don't go after a voice actress for the character she voiced in the game. The disgraceful behaviour that followed spoke volumes of the level of entitlement some unsavoury people feel.
