10 Fanboy Reasons To Be Excited About Hitman

6. Objectives Are So Open-Ended

There's a core change to the way Hitman plays compared to Absolution, and it's a very welcome one. Open the map on any level, and gamers will notice that there are little light bulbs on there dotted around the place. These represented what IO are calling 'Opportunities'. In other words, they are different paths players can take to each target. The bulbs are basically mini-stories in their own right, meaning there are so many different ways to tackle each objective in Hitman. For example, in the 'Final Test' level of the Beta, the player can rig a plane's ejector system so that when the target tries it out he is blasted high into the night air. Alternatively, you can assume the guise of a KGB officer and approach the target for a private conversation. Then, he's all yours. Rounding things out, the player can also poison his vodka, and set up a mock radio conversation between he and his partner. There's so many different ways to go about the main objectives, it's completely refreshing. It feels like an old Hitman game again, instead of a straight up action title. Hitman rewards a good planned approach. It's unclear whether or not the bulbs will be available from the start of each mission, it's likely gamers will have to do some digging to find them.
