10 FORGOTTEN Video Games That Deserve More Love
6. Prince Of Persia: The Forgotten Sands - Console Version (2010)
Although its roots trace back to 1989, The Prince Of Persia series is best known for 2003 smash hit The Sands Of Time. By combining challenging and fluid platforming with stylish combat and a unique time manipulation mechanic this Ubisoft title revolutionised the action genre. This game’s monstrous success would lead to a succession of sequels and reboots, each as critically acclaimed as the last.
Despite this series’ renown and reputation, the ironically titled The Forgotten Sands has become a scarcely discussed footnote in gaming history since its release in 2010.
While other versions of this title differed drastically in their gameplay and plot, each iteration was set between the events of The Sands Of Time and Warrior Within and saw Yuri Lowenthal reprise his role as the eponymous prince.
Not only was the superior console version a technically impressive game for the time, but it featured some of the best platforming in the series to date. The addition power that enabled players to freeze water brought a refreshing layer of challenge to the already outstanding formula, with later sequences demanding precision timing to master.
Although Forgotten Sands isn't the best remembered Prince of Persia game, it’s still more than worth playing today.
