8 Games That Burdened You With Awful Companions

8. Fallout: New Vegas - Craig Boone

Bethesda SoftworksBethesda SoftworksFallout: New Vegas certainly had its fair share of game-breaking bugs, but while graphical glitches, catastrophic crashes and the inability to complete quests were all eventually patched out by developer Obsidian Entertainment: there were still a few quirks that remained though, i.e. dimwitted companions. Craig Boone certainly wasn't the only awful excuse for a helpful companion in New Vegas, but he was definitely one of the worst. As a former member of the New California Republic, Mr. Boone was part of a military sharpshooter squad, touted as one of the best units to ever set foot in the Mojave wasteland. Whether the tales of his marksmanship were heavily exaggerated or just entirely made up, there's no doubting that Mr. Boone's sniper skills were completely absent by the time the player found him. Guarding a small settlement from a makeshift crow's nest when the player stumbles across him, Boone decides he would like to help the player on their journey across the post-apocalyptic world. Except Boone no longer understands how a sniper rifle works, as instead of crouching in the thick undergrowth on the borders of a hostile camp to ready his scope, the twit will instead decide that charging in for close quarters combat will be a far better tactical option. And if that didn't get the idiot killed, you could look forward to randomly losing him forever, as he decides to wander off on his own quite frequently.
