In Baldur’s Gate 3 you play as an adventuring party infected with tadpoles that are slowly turning you all into mind flayers. Your mysterious condition is eventually revealed to be tied to an even more enigmatic Cult of the Absolute, which you have to either destroy or take over to stop your transformation.

Throughout your journey across Faerûn, you have to infiltrate several of the cult’s hideouts, but what you may not know is that the entire time, the cult's leaders are taking note of your activities.

In each of the Absolute's headquarters in Acts 1 and 2, you can come across scrying orbs that patrol the area. A successful check will let you know that someone is observing you through them, but what it doesn’t tell you is that this someone is actually the cult's leaders.

If you have been messing with the Absolute while the orbs are watching, in Act 3 of the game, the Steel Watch under the cult’s control will take note of all of your misdeeds and attempt to arrest you for it.

If you don’t want to deal with non-stop persecution in Act 3, it’s best to avoid the scrying eyes as much as you can.
