10 Genius Video Game Easter Eggs You Need To See For Yourself

4. Satanic Backmasking - Warioware: Twisted!

Nintendo and Satanism? You just can’t put the two in the same sentence... right?

WarioWare: Twisted! is known for its wacky, zany and silly sense of humour, as well as its speedy, five-second “micro-games” that swarm the player in rapid succession.

So how, exactly, does a n out-of-place Easter egg about Satan come into all of this?

Ashley makes her debut in this game. She’s a lonely teenage witch whose best buddy in the whole world is a little devil called Red who helps her with laundry. She has her own stage, and a new theme tune.

After beating her stage, you’ll unlock a vinyl player with three songs, one of them is her song for you to sing along to. Once you hit the ‘play’ button, the track will begin.

Nothing will seem out of the ordinary if you let it play normally. Spin the record anti-clockwise at top speed however, and listen very carefully...

Through the muddled mixture of notes, it sounds like Ashley says “I have granted all kids to Hell.”

Nintendo labelled this bizarre Easter egg a “weird coincidence”. Let’s hope it’s nothing more than just that. Could the company we love and cherish have a darker, sinister side, and potential connections with the Netherrealm?

Spoilers: No.
