10 Great Games with TERRIBLE DLC

9. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2013)

Resident Evil Village DLC
Sumo Nottingham

After the recent release of Friday the 13th and Evil Dead video game adaptions, it was no surprise when The Texas Chainsaw Massacre brand got the same treatment. Though the former properties received mixed reviews, 2023's TCM was praised for its faithfulness to the source material and its cat-and-mouse gameplay. And when Sumo Nottingham announced more juicy features were on the way, it was a cause for celebration.

Although players had hoped for more maps, expanded modes, and glitch fixes, the post-launch updates primarily consisted of cosmetic packs that were simply recolors or minor outfit variations.

Adding salt to the wounds, new characters were often sold individually at high prices. Persistent balance problems remained unaddressed, with certain new characters feeling overpowered or underwhelming.

Compounding the disappointment was the announcement that no further content or bug fixes would be coming out. This declaration signalled the end of long-term support, which was annoying, considering the survival horror title was only released two years prior.

If Sumo made more of an effort to sustain The Texas Chainsaw Massacre's early momentum, it could've fostered an engaged player base for years to come.
