10 Great Video Game Villains Who Were Totally Wasted
2. Deathstroke - Batman: Arkham Knight
Deathstroke is one of the most beloved villains in Batman's rogues gallery, and though he doesn't appear for long in Batman: Arkham Origins, he sure as hell makes an impact.
The boss fight against Deathstroke is one of the best in the entire Arkham franchise - an incredibly challenging mano-y-mano throwdown which tests your ability to counter and answer his many varied attacks.
The intensity of the fight, against one of the few enemies capable of matching the Dark Knight blow-for-blow, makes it a joy to play despite its difficulty, and so when Deathstroke returned in Arkham Knight, fans were thrilled to see what the rematch had in store.
Rather than offer up a sequel to their mesmerising standoff in Origins, though, Knight forces the pair into a lame-brained tank battle that makes no use at all of their hand-to-hand skills.
It certainly didn't help that many players felt the Batmobile was already chronically overused in Arkham Knight, and so ditching a more potentially exciting close-quarters fight in favour of a generic vehicular battle left most massively disappointed.
Plus, Deathstroke is captured and immediately tossed in the slammer at the conclusion of the fight, after which he isn't encountered again. Boo.
