10 Greatest Video Game Cult Heroes Of All Time

8. Leisure-Suit Larry

Has there ever been a good Leisure Suit Larry game? Moreover, have the majority of gamers ever even played a Leisure Suit Larry game? I can say with some confidence that the answer to both those questions is 'no'. How then is this 40-year-old loser, whose sole goal in life is getting laid, famous? Come to think of it, I think I've answered my question there... . Sex sells, and ever since the 80s Larry has been shamelessly offering it to gamers by the bucketful (urgh, grim image). Larry took gamers to places where no games dared take them before, and became the gaming scene's ultimate pedlar of cheap sexual gags - a role that he holds to this day. Larry's sexual misadventures are filled with sleazy innuendos, slapstick scenarios, and unnecessarily convoluted puzzles. While other point-and-clicks of the time focused on being witty and charming, Larry bucked the trend and gave a finger to it all. His status as a rebel against the status quo - the spearhead of video-game sleaze - has given him a dubious cult hero status that he holds to this day.
