Anything developed by Rockstar since GTA III has been followed and revered by fans with the zeal of full-on montheistic religion rather than a mere cult. But amidst all the famous and infamous heroes of Rockstar's games, it's easy to overlook little Jimmy Hopkins. Jimmy is ginger, freckly, and a bit on the short side, so perhaps he's a bit too close to reality to become a mainstream video-game icon. But troubled though he is, Jimmy exhibits many of the traits we wish he had as teenagers. Tough as nails and bullish, Jimmy is also fiercely loyal to the weaker kids in school. He is the most honest, grounded Rockstar protagonist ever conceived, and has only recently started to be appreciated. What gains Jimmy extra cult points is that he was one of the first characters who you could engage in homosexual relationships - if you so chose. Way before Mass Effect let you bone every crew member aboard your orgiastic spaceship, you could send Jimmy to snog just about any boy or girl around Bullworth Academy. Despite his young age, he was a video-game pioneer; a hero that real-life troubled teens could (sort of) look up to.
