10 Greatest Games Ever Released On XBOX 360

1. Red Dead Redemption

Yes, Red Dead Redemption. Technically a spiritual successor to the lesser known, Red Dead Revolver, this game brought to us all something we had never before seen done so well, and a game that for many of us, is regarded as one of the greatest games that's ever been. I put it first because I so often read and hear about it having the fame of one of the greatest. You play as a former outlaw in the dying wild west. Sent to track down your former gang members, you travel across 3 different areas, 2 different countries. What makes Red Dead so enjoyable is what you can do. Rockstar built it in GTA IV style fashion, and so using your horse you could go anywhere within the permitted area and do an awful lot. But you couldn't start a massive rampage in the same fashion, and so Rockstar added animals and a full hunting mechanic to the game, the likes of which noone one had ever seen. You could spend countless game hours hunting wildlife, skinning the kill and selling it off to buy more weapons and faster horses. You could forage for rare plants and sell them on to upgrade one or two things or buy special items. It even made Ubisoft stagger when they were developing, the as of then not known, frontier based Assassins Creed 3. The story was more powerful than many GTA games, the areas were so creative and imaginable making it an instant success. This was a nod to the old Spaghetti Westerns and it probably made Clint Eastwood himself proud. The weapons were detailed and more satisfying than any sub machine gun in GTA IV, and the ability to live as a cowboy was incredibly immersive. Even the 'Dastardly' achievement was a touch of genius by Rockstar. The level of detail in this game was stunning too: Rockstar had made sure their horses were proper horses, none of this lumbering around business. They put in countless amounts of animals, full interactions with other people, even simply adding a button to say "Howdy mister", at passers by. Rockstar allowed you to walk into a saloon to play poker, lose and drown your sorrows, then pull a gun out making several people slide off their chairs and making everyone pull out their revolvers too. A big step up from taking your cousin bowling. The game was so detailed, that personally I don't think Grand Theft Auto V, as big as it undoubtedly will be, will match the ambition and dreams of Red Dead Redemption. Add GTA IVs multiplayer with added modes and more things to do adhering to the timeframe, including posseing up and hunting, and DLC to enable you to play Poker and Liars Dice online, and you have a truly one of a kind game. And there's apparently another one on the way at some point, unsurprisingly. To get a true scope of the game if you have yet to play, watch this video below. http://youtu.be/afhcpsLIh_4 So that concludes my list of what I think are the greatest games on Xbox 360. If you have any disagreements, or any to add, which I'm sure you do add them to the list in the comments below.
