9. Oracle (Batman Arkham series)

I personally think that Oracle represents one of the most tragic and moving stories in all of superhero lore. Forbidden from joining the Gotham police force by her father, Commissioner James Gordon, she instead took up the role of Batgirl, fighting alongside Batman to keep the streets of Gotham safe. This role was short-lived, however; her stint as Batgirl came to an end when she was shot in the spine and paralyzed by the Joker. However, this wasn't enough to keep her down, and her character evolved to become Oracle. Oracle regularly communicates with Batman, feeding him vital information and using her computer expertise to aid him in his battles.

In the Arkham series, she stays true to form. As Batman's only point of communication while stranded on Arkham Island, she is integral to his efforts to regain the island by disabling security systems, relaying information, and remaining calm in the face of her father's capture. In Arkham City, she remotely disables Protocol 10 at Batman's request. And in Harley Quinn's Revenge, an Arkham City DLC pack, she sends Robin to Arkham City after Batman disappears. Overall helpful, Oracle warrants the number 9 position on this list.
