10 Greatest Super Mario Spin-Offs Of All Time
2. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Mario Kart should need no introduction to Super Mario fans.
First gracing us in 1992 on SNES with Super Mario Kart, it became wildly
successful, establishing a new subgenre of racing games and led to countless
imitators, few of which came close.
Each Nintendo console since has brought us a new entry but
Mario Kart 8 stands out as its finest. Released in 2014 for Wii U, you’d race
with up to 12 different characters, competing for 1st place. Nothing
is off-limits and you’ll pick up various item boxes from speed-boosting
Mushrooms to the infamous Blue Shell, first place’s worst nightmare.
It brought in many new elements, implementing anti-gravity sections, crossovers with other Nintendo franchises, 200cc mode and DLC content. Featuring up to 48 different tracks, its one of the heftiest entries yet and gained a second life on Switch.
Seeing MK8 Deluxe arrive in 2017 with even further
characters and a revamped Battle Mode, it’s Mario Kart’s most refined
experiences yet. With Mario Kart 9 rumoured to be on its way, it’ll take some
doing to top this entry.
