Madusa puts in her most famous and dangerous appearance in the Kid Icarus games, where the snake-headed one acts as the main antagonist and provides the biggest threat to Angel Land.

She does not appear as most would expect her to from the tales though, having been transformed into a monster following her initial battles with the god Goddess Palutena, though still retaining the ability to turn people into stone.

After stealing the three sacred treasures in a surprise attack, Madusa is able to put paid to Palutena's army using this very ability before kidnapping her rival Goddess and sealing her up in the Sky Temple. The only hope is for a young angel named Pit to use his bow and arrow to fight his way into Madusa's lair and rid the land of her evil once and for all.

The battle with Madusa is one of the highlights of a very difficult game and in no other title has she been presented as a villain of such magnitude.
